The other day (May, 2016), I need to renew one of my domain names at GoDaddy.
Last year (2015), I started using my Maybank debit card to pay for the domain names. Before that I was using the service of PayPal.
As published on its website, currently for Malaysia, GoDaddy only accepts Visa and Master credit/debit cards and also China UnionPay card.
I knew my Maybank Credit Card was in order and should not have any trouble using it.
Instead I saw a bright red banner with the remark: “There was a problem processing your transaction. Please verify your payment information or use an alternate form of payment.”
Then I called up GoDaddy Kuala Lumpur support line (03-6207 4694). One of the staff tried to solve my problem for me.
Then I was told that the problem was with my card and he asked me to check with the bank.
Maybank Debit & Prepaid Card E-Commerce/Mail Order Telephone Order Disable
I called up Maybank and I found out that beginning this year (2016), all Debit and Prepaid cards have been disabled for E‐Commerce/Mail Order telephone Order transactions.
What it means that, all payment transactions through online or when the card
is not physically present will not be allowed.
The reason Maybank did this is because to prevent cardholders from becoming victims of e-banking, direct debit and card fraud.
How To Enable Maybank Debit Card For E-Commerce Guide
The solution is you need to enable or activate my Debit Card.
Call up 1-300 88 6688 and get the Maybank staff to enable your Debit Card, as you need to use it for online transaction.
About ten minutes after activating your card, you can use it to pay for your online transaction.
Note: I know calling automated attendant telephone line can be a pain in the neck.
Infuriating, that’s the word!
The unnecessary looped long-winded message yapping away about information that is not useful or important to you at the moment.
You are instructed to key in things like “access number”, “pin number” and followed by a has tag and whatnot.
At that very moment, you don’t even know what the definition of “access number” or what is your pin number.
While you still racking your brain, the persistent lady-voice says, “We are still waiting for your reply. We are not getting any response from you. INFURIATING!!
How To Bypass Telephone Automated Message
What I do is, I ignore the sweet-sounding lady-voice as she rattles away, I just press on the digit zero (0) to bypass the call.
If it doesn’t work, I press it multiple times.
By the way, two years ago, when I first got my Maybank Visa Debit Card, I also faced the problem when doing online transaction. That time I was going to renew my Bluehost account.
You can read the account and the tutorial on how to activate Myabank Visa Debit Card to do online purchases.
