It appears to me, the late iconic Seniman Agung P.Ramlee doesn’t appeal to Malaysians anymore.
P Ramlee The Musical
Firstly, it was reported in The Star, the third season of the stage production “P. Ramlee The Musical” by Enfiniti Vision Media could not be staged, because it lacks sponsorship.
Surprisingly, according to the producer Datin Seri Tiara Jacquelina, the earlier staging of this award-winning (BOH Cameronian Arts Awards) musical was a success, but now she could not get any sponsorship. Isn’t it strange?
Tiara added that she decided to stage the show for the third time, because Allahyarham P. Ramlee was a true Malaysian icon who appealed to audiences of all races and telling his story to the younger generation was a way of keeping his legend alive.
But then, why now no one from the corporate sector and government is interested in funding this musical about the legendary entertainer P.Ramlee? Is it that this mega musical doesn’t appeal to the past sponsors anymore?
Dimana ku cari sponsor….???
Then, we read that P. Ramlee’s house in Taman Setapak was sealed and going to be auctioned off by City Hall. The family living there has failed to pay quit rent arrears amounting to RM10,220 over the past 10 years!
The house was bought by Tan Sri P. Ramlee in the 1960s, but he had never stayed in it before. It is just a house he bought. And Sri Gading MP Datuk Mohamad Aziz proposed that the house be made a heritage site.
But the P. Ramlee’s house in Penang at 4A Caunter Hall Road (Jalan P Ramlee) is more significant, because it is his birthplace; even though it belonged to his grandmother.
