Job stress in Malaysia: According to Malaysia Health Ministry Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, in 2008, the ministry’s survey showed that there were 290 suicide cases in the country, followed by 328 in 2009. He said that more than 1,000 people have killed themselves over a 3-year period of 2007 – 2010. What is even more alarming is, many more cases have gone unreported.
As reported in The Malay Mail, the Health Ministry is very concerned with the increasing suicide rate. It has set to initiate a five-year plan to tackle the issue called Strategic Action Plan for Suicide Prevention.
Back in 2010, statistics from the health ministry revealed an increasing number of Malaysian children are suffering from depression and stress.
